I'm contemplating a new entry for the Urban Dictionary's definition of bravery: dog sitting for four Siberian huskies!
My amazing brother MJ and his lovely gf S were kind enough to give J and I a rare weekend away recently - taking on care of our four huskies in our home, for the first time. (Usually, we ask the wonderful M, who brings her furkids Mischa and Lync for a weekend long play date, but recently she's been dealing with some health issues - hope you are feeling better soon M!)
To be honest, perhaps the bravery wasn't so much for dealing with the dogs, but for not running away when I handed him five pages of instructions covering the house, tv, heating... ok, mostly the dogs! I wanted to ensure that he had all the information he would need for dealing with any eventuality that arose - our dogs are very well behaved if you know the "rules" and keep to their routine.
J handed over plenty of information too, verbally - don't go thinking I'm the only crazy one in this house! J's information was slightly more along the lines of "worst case scenario". I'm not sure whether that was as intimidating as my five page document or not, but I was starting to feel nervous.
Fortunately, everything went very smoothly. MJ and S were keen to have lots of puppy cuddles, and prepared to overlook our over-parenting. In fact, they were so keen, they accidentally turned up a week early and were puzzled to find we'd taken the dogs to the You Yangs for a race! But the following weekend, MJ and S seemed to enjoy themselves very much - thanks in no small part to Bolo and Czar fulfilling every puppy cuddle wish anyone could ever have! Thankyou so much guys!!
