Ishka June 2012

Ishka - Our beginnings.

2005 - 2017

J acquired Ishka as a puppy from a litter of Nikita in Bright, Victoria. Her litter brother Rex remained with and became a leader with Australian Sled dog Tours. Because she is the only one J has raised from very early puppyhood, they had a very close relationship. We were devastated to say goodbye to Ishka in 2017, but her legacy will never be forgotten - she is the husky who started it all.

Like all our dogs, Ishka was de-sexed and microchipped. She was the only one of our huskies with brown eyes. J had her well trained and she won awards as a young dog, both in sledding and obedience. She was totally Daddy's girl.

In 2012, Ishka ran as a Wheel dog in J's 4 and 6 dog teams, where the view of the other dogs running encouraged her to stay focussed. As she got older, Ishka had trouble with her hind legs and, in 2013, was retired for a gentle life.

In 2014, Ishka was our ring bearer at our wedding at Dinner Plain, where Australian Sled Dog Tours provided our "wedding car". In 2015, she welcomed our first baby, the Wee Loch Ness Monster into the family, showing unexpected maternal instinct.
